Lake Atitlan to Panajachel to Parramos

1. We started our Sunday morning with devotions on the lawn.

3. We dragged our bags to the parking lot for transport to Panajachel, where we would meet our bus.

4. The bags go by truck, but the road, which was severly damaged during the last hurricane, couldn't accommodate a full size bus, so it was back to the boat.

11. We stopped at the Katok Restaurant for lunch, and Sunday was the pig roast special. That pig was gone before we left, and it was delicious.

13. Sunday is also when they have live music, our first Guatemalan marimba band there was also a bassist and drummer, not in the picture.

15. We passed a revival meeting that had just ended.

16. Horses are still in wide use in Parramos for basic transportation, if the droppings left on the streets is any indication.

17. The school yard at Valley of the Pines, the basketball hoops and sports eqipment was provided by corporate sponsors, although not without strings.

21. Emily, Hana and Doņa Brenda, the School Board Chair, work out a schedule that is the least disruptive for the students, but still lets us maximize our class time.

23. To save shipping costs, each team member carried a second suitcase with either medical or school supplies, or clothing.

27. Bryan, the painting and repairs team leader, checks over the painting supplies. We brought with use all the painting supplies, except for the paint, which was a oil based paint, stretched with gasoline, because thinner was too expensive. There was no smoking in the painting areas.

32. Margaret entertains some of the students. Remember this is Sunday and they didn't need to be there, however they were so excited that they wouldn't leave.

44. Hanna, Glenn, Dianne and Bryan share dinner. There were three diffent bean soups, more a stew really, on the menu, Black Bean, Red Bean and White Bean. They were all delicious.
