What Does Youth Ministry look like at Nassau Church?

youth group photoyouth group with red truckyouth group meeting games

Youth Ministry at Nassau Presbyterian Church seeks to connect young people to each other, the whole church, and the whole world through faith in Jesus Christ. We seek this connection through a variety of activities including Church School, Confirmation, Fellowship, and Mission, striving to communicate that faith is relevant and exciting in our everyday lives. We hope that you will take a look at what’s happening in youth ministry at Nassau Presbyterian Church and join us in our fun and faithful pursuit of God in all we do!

From the Youth Pastors: Matt and Elizabeth Schultz

Greetings!  We have many different programs and activities for Middle School and High School youth groups, and they are all intended to help young people grow closer to God, to other people of faith, and to one another.

The best way to find information is to check here regularly, to email us through this site, or to call the church directly.
While we plan some events a year ahead of time, we try to be very responsive in our planning.  So keep alert - changes may come quickly!  If we get a great opportunity to do something wonderful, we'll jump at it... You are invited to jump with us!

Program Highlights for 2012

CAYA- Come As You Are is a youth led worship service held on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 7-8PM. This service is held in the Assembly Room and takes the place of SHF for that evening and is a wonderful alternative worship service for the whole church.CAYA Dates for 2012: January 8, February 12, March 11, & April 15.

Confirmation Is open to anyone from 8th to 12th grade that is interested in taking part in this specialized class for faith development which will focus on the vows taken at confirmation - the reaffirmation of baptismal vows.  While an outside goal of class may be church membership, the overall goal is faith development and honest seeking, regardless of whether or not the student chooses to be confirmed. This class will be made up of mainly 8th and 9th grade students.  However, any student in high school that has not been able to attend this class before will be welcome!
We will be beginning the class in January 2012 and finishing in October 2012.  Class will meet during the church school hour (9:15am-10:30am), with special events and a retreat in the summer, and then continuing on during the church school hour in the fall.

Pageant
There is one pageant scheduled for 2012, the exact date will be posted at a later date.  Participation will be open to the whole church, with great involvement from middle school and senior high youth (rehearsal details will be in fellowship and Cantorei schedules.)

Church School
is available for all ages at Nassau Presbyterian Church. 8th graders will begin their confirmation process in the spring.  (see confirmation section for details) Church School is held from 9:15-10:15 on Sunday mornings.

The group will leave Saturday, July 28 and return on Saturday, August 4.  They will attend the youth conference at Montreat Confernence Center - this year's theme is "Perfectly Imperfect." The cost of the trip is $475 which includes housing, transportation, a tshirt, the conference fee, and most meals.  Youth should bring money for 6 meals on the road and any additional spending money they'd like to have. Youth Mission Opportunities
We are taking the next steps in creating long-term, sustainable partnerships in Trenton and in Princeton.  We are partnering with the Crisis Ministry to help with Home Food Deliveries. This is open to MSF and SHF.  We will be delivering food on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9-12 to the SAME retirement home location.  Not only does this help families and individuals in need, this consistent mission location will give our youth a chance to get to know who they are serving, and vice versa.

We will also be arranging to help with after school tutoring with the Trenton Children’s Choir (TCC) which meets at Covenant Presbyterian church on 471 Parkway Avenue on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:15.  Carpools will leave from church at 3:15 arrive back home at 4:30.  Also open to MSF and SHF

For each of these service events volunteer drivers are needed!  We have had several parents sign up.  Alison Snieckus will be coordinating volunteers.

To sign up for these ongoing opportunities, please visit the Events section  of My Nassau.
